Your post is just in time! Thank you! Yesterday I downloaded version 22 and prepared a usb stick to boot it but then wasn't sure of upgrading my stable Mint/Alsa/Bitwig setup.I have Mint Linux on an external drive,and had the same problem as you have, not being able to use Bitwig and listen to YouTube at the same time. I heard that the latest Mint Linux now has Pipewire, so I used the upgrade tool and installed version 22. I am now able to use Bitwig with decent latentcy,and listen to Youtube simultaneously. In fact, I can now play and listen to piano on my external keyboard, and use a midi controller to play a plugin, and listen to Youtube all at the same time through my headphones. Impressive.
Anyway, for the best usage (for me) it is on Mac, as when I switch to YouTube (for example), I can hear the sound normally, but in Linux (Alsa), I must quit Bitwig and in Windows the ASIO driver for Tascam is problematic in Bitwig especially (I must quit Bitwig and run Reaper (or other DAW) to free the sound driver!). Although, it doesn't happen with another two ASIO drivers for another Audio interfaces! I have another glitches with Tascam ASIO driver, but it doesn't occur all the times!
How did you upgrade? I read the quick guide and there wasn't a path for upgrading, just to delete what I have and install Mint 22 from scratch (i.e. no upgrade option if I boot the PC with the usb stick). So, do I need to install everything again after installing Mint 22 to the Mint 21 partition (Bitwig, u-he, TAL, ...etc)?
I'm also curios if Studio One Pro (beta) would install and function in Mint 22. For the current one I have, I couldn't install it because of some library lacking (dependency problem).
