This is kind of an interesting discussion. Probably 0,1 percent of the posters here use Reason as their main daw. Really interesting it is.
Hardcore users are always the worst for any business, these guys think the company belongs to them, lol...Reason Studios management laugh at them and I understand why, they represent a tiny amount of their business, they would be happy to see them go somewhere else...
Disagree.

A company needs to attract both hardcore and new users. Too much focus of either will be an issue.

Hardcore users are typically loyal and will fight for the company if it is a product they believe in. From what I seen in other DAWS Hardcore users are typically satisfied with DAWS current implementation and don't want too much change.

Back when I was on the Sonar forums tons of Hardcore users resisted change. And for a new user like myself DAWS such as Ableton and Reaper looked very tempting. I think alot of newer less loyal users jumped ship.

I think Reason has the opposite problem right now. I never seen so many Hardcore users upset. Reason is unique though that in it's early stages it wasn't a DAW and there were plenty of Hardcore users fighting to keep Reason from going DAW. I wonder how many of these people are left now.

I wonder if alot of the Hardcore users are the Record era users still hanging on still wanting DAW features. In this case I can see why these users would be upset as so many DAWS have seemed to develop at a much faster pace. Earlier releases had a unique balance of workflow improvements and new devices and I think most Reason users understand that these features need to have a unique balance and even if many Reason versions would seem a bit short in the workflow area, there was usually enough to really tick people off. I just think the last few releases are way off of what many users would expect in a DAW. If Reason was just a plugin package, these releases would be more forgivable but there is still a DAW/standalone user base and I think these are still the core Reason users who needs to be satisfied vs newer users who can be more fickle.

I also wonder if Reason is really getting these new users anyways with companies like Arturia, Cherry Audio, Vital, Uhe kind of shining in the new instrument market. I think the RE concept of Reason had huge potential to be big but something happened and they don't seem to have the large 3rd party development base they had like several years ago. I think companies like Blamsoft were doing big things for them but Reason kind of outshined and depromoted REs which is weird and Reason's big unique selling point.
