Thank you, your post gave me an idea: it's not exactly clear where the assets for Zenology are stored, butwell, you can buy expansions/presets regardless of your sub status, so my guess is that RCM will check every available pack, whether it is installed or not.
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Roland Cloud
looks like a good candidate, as it contains (mostly) empty folders for the RC instruments plus a rather large one for Zenology.
I have renamed the latter and started a fresh instance of Zenology Lite, and now I'm down to the 7-10-ish seconds from D-Fusion's post; while not lightning-fast is far more acceptable. Still kind of slow for just the 'Lite' banks, though

(And so I'm also back to my earlier opinion that the license validation is badly unoptimized.)
